Our Limitless Story

Outer Limits was formally known as Brooke's Backyard Productions

In 2014, Brooke decided to gather a few friends and neighbors together to perform a shortened version of The Wizard of Oz. Brooke decided that at the performance (which was supposed to be in the backyard), she would collect at-will donations for a friend, Ashley, who was battling cancer. The day of the show arrived, and it was typical Illinois weather: rainy, windy, and cold. The Ferricks family had to move all of the furniture to turn the living room and kitchen into a stage. Twelve kids participated and fifty people crammed into the living room. Despite the turn of events, they were still able to raise $400 for Ashley.

Since then, each performance has been dedicated to a different individual or local non-profit. Over five years, Outer Limits has raised nearly $26,000 with all of the money going directly to the following:

  • Neighbor with spina-bifida

  • Down in the Southland, an organization for people with Down syndrome

  • A family who experienced a house fire

  • A parishioner with a traumatic brain injury

  • An elementary student recovering from leukemia

  • Playground at SOS Children's Village of Lockport

  • A preschooler recovering after a drowning incident

Outer Limits has impacted the community by having over 170 different kids involved in the shows, gathering groups of 500 people, and encouraging others to reach out to those in need. Our home base is Christ Community Church of Lemont where they graciously lend us their space and have implemented us as the theatre ministry. As Brooke is spending time in college, she is working on ways to expand Outer Limits to impact more lives.
